Week 1 Recap: Laundry Room / Jeffrey Court Reno Challenge

That’s a wrap on week 1 of the Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge and man was it a doozie! Demo is HARD WORK, but now we have a blank slate and the fun can officially begin! Kyle is once again the MVP here, doing most of the heavy lifting during this process! Did you see in stories where the previous owner laid tile over the original linoleum? Luckily it was old enough that it came up fairly easy (and in one piece).

We did a few things for this reno that made demo so much easier! First, we rented a demo hammer from Home Depot. This thing makes demoing tile much faster and saves your back from hours of hammering (bent over)! We’ve rented one of these a few times now; at this rate we should probably just buy one! Secondly, we rented a dumpster and they delivered it right to our driveway. Talk about easy clean up! When we were done, they came and took it away. I may never demo without one again!

We also started on our arch doorway! It will be a few weeks before it’s done but I am sooo excited to finally have an ARCH!
I cannot tell you how long I’ve been waiting for the right spot for one. And now that we’ve done one, we will likely do more… Give a mouse a cookie :)

Now that the room is cleared out, we need to decide on paint & stain colors (I’m thinking a moody wall color). And, I might just paint the ceiling while we’re at it. If you’re like Kyle, you probably think I’m crazy, BUT you’ll just have to trust me!! And like I always say (and remind him), it’s just paint!!!

Head over to Instagram Stories to see the colors I’m considering AND hopefully see some paint on the (ceiling) and walls. I will also give you a sneak peek of the tile we’ll be using! Hint: It will compliment the kitchen island nicely :)

P.S. will be taking over Jeffrey Court’s Instagram stories sometime this week, so keep you eye out for that as well.

If you have any questions, comments or feedback, feel free to drop it in the comments below! I look forward to sharing the rest of this project with you.
